Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you insured?

Yes. I believe insurance is incredibly important for any business. Fun fact: some venues actually require photographers to have their own third party liability insurance to shoot there.

  • Do you travel? Where are you located?

Absolutely! I have my own vehicle to get to any destination you have in mind. I am local to Havelock, ON and surrounding areas. I am frequently in Bancroft (my hometown where I spent over 20 years of my life), Norwood, Campbellford, Peterborough, GTA, Belleville, Ottawa, and Muskoka.

  • How long do files take to be delivered?

Weddings take up to 12 weeks to be delivered, a sneak peek will usually be uploaded within 24-48 hours. Portrait sessions take up to 4 weeks. Time may vary depending on the season and how busy I am. I am only human and try my best.

  • How do I download my files?

I will send you a link to your gallery with a download pin. There will be a download icon. You click the download icon, type in the pin and the files will download to your computer.

  • Can I have the raw files?

No. I don’t deliver any raw or unedited images as it is not an accurate representation of my work. Raw files also require special software to be able to open them. My cameras shoot in a .CR2 and .CR3 file format and would need to be changed to jpeg to be easily viewed. Your final delivered images are edited jpegs.

  • How many hours of coverage should I get for my wedding?

It depends on how much coverage you’d like. Most people get 8 hours and that usually covers most of the day. If you just want the ceremony and family photos 2-4 hours is likely more than enough. It depends on your timeline and what you’d like documented as well as your budget. If you have a lower budget, fewer hours with a professional photographer you love will be better than many hours with a photographer who has a style you don’t agree with.

  • Can I order print products through you?

Yes! I offer professional print products a la carte. This way you can order products any time after your session.

  • Do I need a second photographer for my wedding?

That really depends on how much coverage you’d like. I recommend a second photographer if you want anything over 6 hours of coverage, if you are getting ready in different locations and/or if you really like having a lot of final images.

  • Does the second photographer deliver my files to me?

No. The second shooter delivers their files to me after the wedding. I edit and deliver them to ensure that they are all edited in the same style. The responsibility of delivery is also solely on me as it is my business. My second photographers are contract shooters and represent my business not their own while working for me.

  • Can I bring my pet(s) to my session?

Absolutely! I love when people bring along their fur babies. They are part of the family too and deserve to be in a few photos. I just ask that they have a leash/harness for when they aren’t in photos or when we are travelling to locations. I also love when there are animals at weddings!

  • What equipment do you use?

I use professional Canon brand equipment. My main camera is a mirrorless Canon R6 which actually has 2 SD slots so I can write on two cards for your important moments. I also have a Canon 6D as a backup (I will be upgrading to a second R6 soon). I use professional lenses for full frame cameras including a 24-70mm f/2.8, 50mm f/2.8, 24-105mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8. I have a Canon 600EX small flash for dark reception lighting, MacBook Pro for editing, tons of memory cards and hard drives for storage. Just note that it isn’t the equipment that makes the photographer…a good photographer will get the best use and results out of their equipment.

  • Do you have props?

Yes. I don’t have too many yet as I don’t have a studio at the moment however, I have a small selection of maternity dresses and newborn outfits if you would like. I also have a few props that work for younger kids. You are also more than welcome to bring along any personal items or props you would like for your session.

  • What if the weather is bad?

If it is any session other than a wedding, there is always the possibility of rescheduling within a reasonable time frame. If there is a time crunch for any reason, or if it’s a wedding, we will do our best to keep dry. I do usually try to keep clear umbrellas in my car for this reason along with my little backup kit of items in case the weather changes. It is always a smart idea to have a backup plan for weather like rain, snow or extra hot temperatures.

  • What should we wear to our session?

With my editing style being more light & airy, the best options are neutral or pastel colours. I recommend wearing something that you are comfortable in. If you need inspiration I can send some ideas or you can look on Pinterest.

  • Which print products should I order?

If you want something large and on the wall, I would recommend either a large canvas or a large framed print. If you want something smaller that works well for casual viewing I would recommend an album. An affordable option would also be prints and putting them into a photo album or smaller frames. I personally get images put into keychains so I can clip my memories and loved ones onto my car keys and bags. There are many, many more options. Please send me a message if you have any questions or ideas.

  • Where should we go for our photo session?

I am full of location ideas however, some of my favourite locations end up being private property. I love when clients bring me to a place that has meaning to them and isn’t open to all of the public - think your home, cottage, property that belongs to a friend or family member. I am very go with the flow and can easily adapt to whatever location we end up shooting at. We can definitely discuss some location ideas based on the vibe of your session at the time of booking.
